It is designed primarily as a warm drying robe for wet dogs after swimming, bathing or muddy walks. The absorbent inner helps draw moisture from the coat while the outer reduces wind chill and protects the car or home from spray. It should not automatically be treated as a fully waterproof technical dog jacket for hours of exercise unless the exact product specification says so.

Measure the back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, then measure around the deepest part of the chest just behind the front legs. Match both measurements to the size chart, giving priority to a chest strap range that can fasten securely without compressing the ribcage. Weight or breed alone is unreliable, especially for long-backed or deep-chested dogs.

Choose the size that gives full back coverage while keeping the chest strap within its adjustable range. A robe that is too small will pull behind the front legs; one that is too large can twist, trail near the tail or interfere with movement. For narrow dogs, confirm that the elasticated body panel can sit close enough once the strap is adjusted.

Use it until the coat is largely dry and the dog is comfortably warm, then remove it so trapped dampness does not remain against the skin. Drying time varies greatly by coat type: a short-haired dog may need only a brief period, while double-coated or long-haired breeds take longer. Check beneath the robe periodically rather than leaving it on unattended for hours.

Shake or rinse off grit first, fasten adjustable parts and follow the garment label for machine washing. Salt, sand and heavy mud should not be left embedded in the lining because they reduce comfort and can create odour. Air-dry the robe fully with the inner exposed; avoid storing it folded or sealed while damp.
