TEXAPORE is Jack Wolfskin's waterproof and breathable weather-protection system. Current Core and Pro versions have different stated waterproof and breathability levels, so the name alone is not enough: compare the exact membrane tier, seam construction and intended activity. A TEXAPORE shell protects from rain; it does not necessarily include meaningful insulation.

Choose the missing function in your wardrobe. A fleece supplies breathable midlayer warmth, a padded jacket gives insulation in cold dry or lightly damp conditions, and a waterproof shell blocks wind and sustained rain. For year-round UK use, a fleece plus roomy shell is more adaptable than expecting one padded coat to handle every temperature and activity.

Some insulated jackets combine padding with a waterproof TEXAPORE outer, while others use only a water-repellent face fabric. Product names such as puffer or down jacket do not guarantee waterproof seams. Check whether the description explicitly says waterproof and taped seams; if it only says water repellent, use a shell in prolonged rain.

Put on the base layer and fleece you will actually use, then check shoulder reach, zip tension and hood movement. The shell should not compress the fleece flat or pull across the back when your arms extend. Too much spare volume can flap in wind, so size for your real layering system rather than automatically going one size larger.

Jack Wolfskin walking shoes are the better choice when grip, weather protection and uneven surfaces matter. A casual trainer may be lighter and more breathable for airports and city use. For a mixed trip, a low waterproof walking shoe can bridge both roles, but it will normally feel firmer and warmer than a mesh lifestyle trainer.
