water shoes

Perfect for beach holidays, water sports, and exploring the shore, these water shoes are made for adventure. They help protect your feet from sharp rocks, keep you steady on slippery surfaces, and stay put when you’re in and out of the water - and you've got fantastic brands like Trespass to pick from here.

What is the difference between water shoes and aqua socks?

Aqua socks are lightweight and close fitting, mainly protecting against hot sand and minor abrasion. Water shoes have a more substantial outsole and often a structured upper or fastening, making them better for rocky beaches, paddleboarding and walking between water and land. Neither is a substitute for specialist diving or safety footwear.

Should water shoes feel tight when dry?

They should fit snugly enough not to wash off or fill with folds, but toes must not curl and seams should not press. Some materials relax when wet, so an overly loose dry fit usually becomes less secure in water. Use the product chart and test heel hold without choosing a smaller size solely for grip.

What sole is best for rocky beaches?

Choose a flexible but protective rubber outsole with enough thickness to reduce sharp-stone pressure and a tread suited to wet surfaces. Very thin soles improve feel but offer limited protection. No tread guarantees grip on algae, slime or submerged smooth rock, so move cautiously even in purpose-built footwear.

Can water shoes be used for kayaking and paddleboarding?

Yes, provided they stay secure, drain quickly and do not interfere with foot straps or board control. A low-profile shoe is convenient for paddleboards, while kayaking may benefit from heel protection during launches. Check that the sole is non-marking if required by the craft or venue.

How do I stop water shoes smelling?

Rinse out salt, mud and chlorine, remove insoles where possible and dry every part fully in moving air. Do not leave them sealed in a wet kit bag. Periodic washing according to the label and alternating pairs helps; high heat can deform glued soles and synthetic uppers.
