What type of outdoor activity is CMP clothing designed for?

CMP covers several categories rather than one specialist use: ski and snow clothing, waterproof hiking layers, fleece, casual outdoor clothing and trail footwear. Start with the product’s intended activity and weather rating. A CMP ski jacket may be insulated and feature-rich, while a hiking shell prioritises lower weight and ventilation.

What does CMP ClimaProtect mean?

ClimaProtect is CMP’s weather-protection system, used in products designed to resist wind and water while allowing some moisture vapour to escape. The precise waterproof and breathability rating depends on the garment. Look for the numerical specification and taped-seam information because the technology label alone does not make all CMP jackets equivalent.

What is CMP Feel Warm insulation?

Feel Warm is CMP’s synthetic insulation family, available in different weights and constructions. It is intended to retain warmth while remaining relatively light and functional when damp. A higher fill weight is not automatically better: active skiing and hiking require less insulation than standing around in winter conditions.

Can CMP ski clothing be used for ordinary winter walking?

Yes, but it may be heavier and warmer than necessary. Ski jackets often include snow skirts, lift-pass pockets, helmet-compatible hoods and insulation that are useful on the slopes but bulky for a brisk UK walk. For everyday walking, a lighter waterproof shell with separate layers gives more temperature control.

How does CMP footwear sizing compare with UK sizes?

CMP commonly labels footwear in EU sizes, so use the product conversion chart and measure foot length rather than relying on a remembered UK conversion. Allow space for the sock used during the activity, but do not create heel lift by oversizing. Waterproof membranes and structured hiking uppers may also feel less forgiving than casual trainers.
