What is a changing robe? Is it a coat? What do I use it for?

The changing robe is a loose-fitting jacket designed to help people change clothes outdoors while staying warm, dry, and covered. They are also commonly worn just as a coat if you like the oversized look, to pop to the shops, walk the dog, pick the kids up from school or to stand on the sidelines to watch a football game. They are a very versatile item!

I want to personalise it, is this possible?

Whilst we don’t offer personalisation here at Avenue 85, you of course can at a printer of your choice! The changing robes have been very popular with football teams, as they are perfect to chuck on to stay warm and dry between games or sat on the bench waiting for your time to shine! Adding a team logo to the back means you stay warm and dry, but still look and feel part of the team. Some of the Changing robes do already have branding to the back, if you are unsure which ones are plain on the back and can be personalised please check the images for the colour you are interested in or reach out to our friendly customer services team at info@avenue85.co.uk and we can check for you

What is the difference between a standard Regatta changing robe and the Regatta Pro robe?

The standard Outdoor Active robe uses Regatta’s Hydrafort waterproof outer and a warm Borg-fleece lining, making it a practical option for swimming, sports sidelines, dog walks and everyday wet weather. Pro models use higher-spec Isotex fabric—some current versions list 10,000mm or 15,000mm waterproofing, breathability and taped seams—so they are the stronger choice for longer exposure to wind and heavy rain.

I have never bought a changing robe what size do I go for?

They are an oversized item, so they are supposed to be big! What size you get largely depends on how you use it. If it is being worn as a coat and not to change in most adults would fit into a S/M and the XS/S is perfect for smaller framed petite women, or teens who have outgrown a 9-13 from the kids range but not ready for adult sizes. If it is being used to get changed inside then a XS/S fits a ladies size 6-14, a S/M fits a ladies size 8-16 or Mens XS-XL and a L/XL fits a ladies size 16-22 and a Mens XL-4XL

Will a Regatta changing robe dry me like a towel after swimming?

The fleece lining helps move moisture away from skin and provides immediate warmth, but the robe is primarily a weatherproof changing shelter rather than a cotton towel. For a very wet swimmer, towel off briefly first or accept that the lining will need longer to dry. A towel poncho is usually more absorbent; a Regatta waterproof robe offers much better wind and rain protection.

Is a Regatta changing robe suitable for dog walking and watching outdoor sport?

Yes. The oversized cut, wind-blocking outer and zipped pockets make it useful well beyond the beach. For short school runs or dog walks, the standard Hydrafort robe is normally sufficient; for exposed touchlines, winter events or prolonged rain, compare the Pro models’ waterproof rating, taped seams and breathable fabric.

Which details matter most when comparing Regatta changing robes?

Look beyond colour and price. Compare the waterproof fabric and rating, whether seams are taped, the lining type, sleeve length, pocket security and the amount of room for changing. Also check whether the model is adult, junior or unisex: age labels alone are less useful than the garment measurements and intended height range.
