Fanning uses a supportive EVA footbed, airbag-style heel cushioning and the signature bottle opener outsole. Cushion models emphasise soft step-in comfort in varied silhouettes. Ojai styles use a more refined leather or suede look with contoured support. Choose Fanning for sporty durability, Cushion for softness and Ojai for smarter casual wear.

It is recessed into the non-marking rubber outsole and designed as part of the Fanning model. It should not normally contact the ground like an exposed metal edge. Clean it before use and remember that it is a novelty feature; hygiene and local rules matter, and it should never influence the choice more than fit and grip.

Many Reef models use contoured footbeds and anatomical arch shapes, but the level differs by family and foot. Fanning and selected Cushion or Ojai styles are more structured than flat basic flip-flops. Support is personal: a pronounced contour can feel excellent to one wearer and uncomfortable to another.

No. Fanning and many synthetic styles use water-friendly materials, while leather and suede Ojai products need model-specific checking even when combined with a water-friendly footbed. Choose synthetic quick-dry versions for regular pool or beach use and reserve premium leather styles for dry casual wear unless explicitly approved.

Fit varies by model, and customer reviews often report different experiences around strap tightness and length. Keep the heel and toes on the footbed and check the strap does not force the foot backwards. Use the specific product chart and, where only whole sizes are available, compare foot length rather than applying one brand-wide sizing rule.
