Yes. Deluge-style waterproofs are overtrousers intended to add rain and wind protection over walking trousers or a base layer. Size them with the intended clothing underneath and check waist adjustment and leg length. Wearing them directly against skin is possible in mild conditions but may feel clammy and provides limited insulation.

Long side zips let the trousers go on over walking boots without removing footwear and provide ventilation when conditions improve. They also make it easier to access layers underneath. The extra zip adds weight and another potential entry point, so ensure storm flaps or waterproof construction are intact before relying on them in heavy rain.

Hydroshell is Berghaus's waterproof, breathable fabric family. A two-layer construction bonds the waterproof membrane to the outer fabric and uses a separate lining to protect it inside. This is comfortable and durable for general use, while lighter 2.5-layer designs reduce bulk but can feel less soft against bare skin.

Use the overtrouser size chart and measure over the layers you plan to wear; do not automatically add a full size. Excess fabric can flap, snag and interfere with foot placement. Check waist, seat, knee movement and inseam while stepping up, crouching and wearing boots.

Clean them first using the care-label method. If water stops beading and the outer fabric wets out despite the membrane remaining intact, restore the durable water-repellent finish with a compatible wash-in or spray treatment. Reproofing cannot repair punctures, delamination or failed seam tape, which need repair or replacement.
