Choose a pullover hoodie for a hood, kangaroo pocket and a more overt skatewear silhouette. A crew sweatshirt layers more cleanly under a jacket and looks slightly neater with chinos or straight jeans. Both can use similar cotton-blend fleece, so the choice is mainly about hood bulk, pocket use and how you intend to layer it.

A hoodie needs more room through the chest, shoulders and sleeves because it is worn over a tee. It should not pull when you reach forward, but an oversized body can bunch under a jacket. Vans garment proportions vary by style, so compare the individual chest and length information rather than automatically buying the same label size as your tee.

They are useful for dry, cool conditions and provide more warmth than a T-shirt, but ordinary cotton-blend hoodies do not block persistent wind or rain. Wash it inside out at the care-label temperature, close zips and avoid high tumble-dryer heat. Heavy heat can shrink cotton, flatten brushed fleece and stress printed graphics. Dry naturally when possible and do not iron directly over logos. For dark colours, washing with similar shades reduces visible fading and lint.
